Boal & Co is proud to announce its sponsorship of 17-year-old Regan Corrin, a successful and ambitious high jumper and long jumper from the Isle of Man.
At 17, Regan is already competing at a high level in both disciplines. He holds an impressive personal best of 2.13m for high jump and the record for the furthest long jump in Isle of Man history at 6.94m indoors (extended to 7.07m outdoors!) Currently based in Loughborough (UK), Regan is studying sports coaching and development at Loughborough college. On a recent visit home, we caught up with Regan to learn more about his background, achievements and career aspirations.
How did you get into athletics?
I have been involved in sport since a very young age. I started competing in athletics aged 7, predominantly focusing on sprinting and long jump. My dad used to comment on how ‘springy’ I was which encouraged me to give high jump a go when I was 11. Within no time I was competing with the best for my age in the UK for both high and long jump. I hold multiple Isle of Man age group records across a range of events from jumping to hurdling and sprinting. I started competing nationally aged 14 and have been climbing the ranks ever since.
What are your recent achievements?
I achieved a bronze medal in the English National Indoor Championships (competing in the under 20 age group at 16), I was selected to represent Great Britain & NI at the Under 18 European Athletics Championships for high jump (held in Slovakia) and I came 4th in my first GB call up at the under 18 European Championships narrowly missing out on a medal.
What do you hope to achieve in the next 12 months?
I would love to be selected to represent Great Britain in the Under 20 European Championships in Finland 2025 and compete at other high-level competitions internationally and nationally such as Loughborough International, JBL Jumpfest in Slovakia and the UK Senior Championships. In doing so, I hope to climb further up the European and World age group rankings.
And what about your Career Aspirations?
To consistently compete at Commonwealth, European and World championship level would be incredible. My goal is to represent the Isle of Man in the 2026 Commonwealth Games and Team GB in the 2028 Olympics in LA. And the ultimate goal - Olympic and World Champion!
How will Boal & Co’s sponsorship benefit you?
The funding received from Boal & Co will allow me to travel more and access higher level competitions around Europe and beyond as well as attend specific training camps for warm weather and altitude which will help enhance my performance. I will also be able to access different types of specialist training equipment and recovery resources. Competing in both the vertical and horizontal jumps puts huge force through my body so recovery is an essential part of my schedule.
Anything you would like to add?
Just a massive thank you to Boal & Co for your support – with your funding and support I can train harder, compete further afield and develop myself even more.
