Part Qualified Actuary

We are currently recruiting for a part qualified actuary, based in our Isle of Man office.  At Boal & Co, our customers are our primary focus and our busy administration teams supported by our actuarial team are key to providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

The actuarial team provides support for day-to-day matters arising with various Boal & Co administered pension schemes together with specific actuarial reporting.  

Duties can include:

  • Providing actuarial support and calculations for the pensions administration and trustee teams
  • Valuation of liabilities of defined-benefit pension schemes
  • Risk-based capital reporting for life and non-life insurance companies
  • Performing complex calculations, building financial models and making suggestions for developing models and processes
  • Producing reports including investment reports to the investment committees and undertaking various relevant projects

The role will also provide an opportunity to contribute to and evolve working procedures, process flows and operational efficiencies, where relevant.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Working towards the IFoA qualification with some exam passes or exemptions is essential
  • Previous experience in a specialist pensions actuarial role for a minimum of a year is essential
  • Previous experience of preparing pension scheme and other financial statement disclosures is essential
  • Able to work independently and to tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office and all its functions
  • Excellent communication and personal skills with a strong customer service ethic
